Rape Resource Page

The prevalence of rape is astounding.  One in four women will be sexually assaulted or raped in their lifetime, yet rape is one of the most under-reported crimes.  Victims are often reluctant to identify themselves as survivors of sexual violence, and attackers may refuse to view their actions as rape. The silence surrounding sexual assault and rape not only fosters shame and humiliation, but may also perpetuate sexual violence. The first step to preventing and reducing sexual violence is to acknowledge and raise awareness about this epidemic.

The pages and links below provide some necessary information about rape and additional resources for the community at large.  In discussing how to identify and acknowledge rape as well as the importance of speaking out, we hope to highlight the difficulties in recognizing and recovering from a sexual assault, as well as to encourage victims and the community to speak openly about the crime.
